Many people think that REALTORS® just list homes and help buyers...well, they do more
than that. One of the things they must do is attend continuing education classes to keep
up with any changes in the Real Estate Community. Another way they keep up with the
pace of what is happening is by attending meetings with the local area agents and
board. The Central Arizona Association of Realtors (CAAR) pronounced CARE does
many things for the Payson area Community. Every Aug - Oct they hold a food drive.
Not only does the food go to the food pantries of Payson and Pine/Strawberry, but the
money raised also helps those communities as well. CAAR also raises funds for
scholarships for local High School students.
But one of the most impactful things REALTORS® do is participate in the non-partisan
RAPAC - this is the Realtors of Arizona Political Action Party. What does this mean for
the consumer? We are fighting for your rights as a property owner at the local, state
and federal levels. When there are issues on the ballot or before they become issues,
we are getting involved to find out how this will impact ownership of property in Arizona.
It could be as simple as zoning, but more complicated as to tax ramifications. So next
time you see your favorite REALTOR®, ask them about what’s the topic of discussion at
the caucus this year. I hope they will be able to share with you.
